Backed by investors like Coatue Management, Insight Partners, and Sequoia Capital, and trusted by some of the largest, most respected enterprises on the planet, Island is redefining what the modern workplace can be.

Come join us in building something that's already changing how the world works.

The Mission

As an IT Lab Systems Engineer at Island, you are the architect of the "Customer Mirror." You won't just be managing a static lab; you will be building, breaking, and reconstructing diverse enterprise ecosystems to push the boundaries of our Enterprise Browser. You are the bridge between complex customer environments and our R&D team, ensuring that no matter how unique a client’s setup is, Island works flawlessly within it.

What You’ll Do Day-to-Day

  • Architect & Orchestrate: Own the end-to-end management of our hybrid lab (Physical, Virtual, and Cloud).
  • Environment Replication: Act as a "Technical Chameleon," rapidly spinning up specific customer infrastructures—ranging from legacy Windows Server setups to modern cloud-native stacks—to reproduce complex edge cases.
  • R&D Enablement: Collaborate directly with Engineering to provide a "live fire" testing ground for new features, ensuring compatibility across a massive matrix of security and networking products.
  • Cross-Platform Troubleshooting: Dive deep into OS-level issues across Windows, macOS, Linux, and mobile (iOS/Android) to identify where the browser interacts with the local system.

The Tech Stack You’ll Master

We deal with the "Full Stack" of enterprise security. You should have experience (or a strong desire to dive deep) in:

  • Identity & Access: Okta, Azure Entra ID, SCIM, and PKI.
  • Security & Data Protection: DLP (Symantec, Forcepoint), EPP/EDR, and CASB integrations.
  • Infrastructure & Virtualization: Windows Server, Active Directory, SMB, VDI (AVD, RDS), and Linux.
  • Networking & Connectivity: Deep TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, SASE, and ZTNA architectures.
  • Visibility: SIEM, Syslog, and advanced Firewall configuration.

Who You Are

The Ultimate Generalist: You enjoy knowing "how things work" from the packet level up to the application layer.

A Creative Problem Solver: When a customer has a unique RDS setup or a finicky GlobalProtect VPN config, you’re excited to figure out how to replicate it.

Agile & Resourceful: You can pivot quickly from troubleshooting a macOS certificate issue to configuring a complex firewall rule in a virtual VPC.

Why Island?

This isn't a traditional IT support role. You are a key player in the R&D cycle of a product that is redefining the enterprise stack. You will see more varied environments
