At Island, we’ve always believed that building something meaningful comes with responsibility. Not just to our customers and employees, but also to the world around us by minimizing our environmental impact.

As we continue to grow, we’ve maintained our commitment to making our products carbon neutral. For the fourth year in a row, we’re offsetting our emissions by supporting projects that actively reduce or remove carbon from the atmosphere.

Turning Impact Into Action

Carbon offsets are a practical way to balance emissions that can’t yet be eliminated by investing in projects that reduce greenhouse gases elsewhere. 

For us, this isn’t about checking a box. It’s about supporting initiatives that have measurable environmental impacts while contributing to healthier ecosystems and stronger communities. This year, we’re proud to back two projects that reflect that philosophy.

Protecting Habitats and Communities

A Bearadise, in Alaska, focuses on preserving old growth forests that naturally store massive amounts of carbon. By ensuring these forests remain intact, A Bearadise will prevent approximately 1.5 million tonnes of carbon emissions over the next 30 years. Plus it will safeguard critical wildlife habitats and maintain clean air for generations to come.

A Bright Idea brings renewable energy to remote communities through direct current solar systems, providing reliable, sustainable power in places where traditional infrastructure isn’t feasible. Projects like this don’t just reduce emissions. They also create new opportunities for economic growth, education, and resilience.

These efforts build on the work we’ve supported in previous years, ranging from improved forest management in Montana to reforestation initiatives in East Africa that help communities thrive while drawing down carbon. Together, they represent a balanced approach: protecting existing carbon sinks, restoring natural systems, and accelerating transitions to clean energy.

Beyond Our Own Footprint

Island’s responsibility doesn’t stop with our own emissions. The Island Enterprise Platform helps organizations reduce reliance on energy-intensive technologies like traditional virtual desktops and network backhauling, which lowers the broader environmental footprint of modern work.

That means the impact extends far beyond our walls, helping customers operate more efficiently and sustainably at scale.

We’re proud of what we’ve achieved so far, but we’re under no illusion that this is "done." Sustainability is an ongoing effort, and we’ll look for new ways to reduce our footprint, support meaningful environmental projects, and contribute to a healthier planet.
